Re: AITC Closure
Dear Ms. Smith,
My name is ______________ and I am writing to voice my concern over the recent news of AITC Covel Peer Learning Lab’s closure for the upcoming school year. UCLA has always taken pride in its academic excellence, making it one of the most respectable and prestigious institutions in the nation. An integral part of this success can be attributed to readily available programs, such as Covel’s Math/Science Lab and Composition/ESL lab, which help the student population, especially incoming freshmen transition into higher education successfully. With the budget crisis growing every year, the number of students per classroom has grown exponentially and it is easy for students to get lost in the crowd. Those seeking a more individualized experience had the option of coming to Covel for that one-on-one or small group experience, which is nearly impossible to obtain in a large University.
Serving thousands of students each year, the news of Covel Peer Learning Lab’s closure affects students academically by eliminating a service which enables students to think critically and develop the necessary skills to thrive in higher education. The ramifications of this closure will not only affect students but facilitators, faculty and staff. Although the decision to discontinue these services has already been reached, I urge you to advocate for the reinstatement of this Covel Peer Learning Lab student service.
Sincerely,
_____________
